The research intends to analyze and reevaluate 20th century Georgian art history, from today’s standpoint as well as international perspective. The focus is directed towards the art, which was repressed and filtered during the soviet regime, while main actors and theoreticians, who have created new tendencies of that period, were practically erased from the historic memory. As a result of this “memory loss”, today we lack adequate and material perception of Georgian art history. The research attempts to fill this gap and help young artists find the point of reference, orientation and consequently belief in their own potential. We believe that analysis of past is a groundwork, which should be performed for relevant future development.
